Eye Care > Community Eye Care

Every educational institution and its stakeholders have an obligation to society. In acknowledgement of that obligation, VCOVS endeavours to accomplish the eradication of preventable blindness, in accordance with international standards and organisations, by providing quality eye care services at minimal cost. A unique feature of the institute is its out-patient department (OPD) within the campus wherein the students get a first-hand experience of clinical training, and while undergoing the drill of dealing with patients, they end up delivering primary eye care services to the community. With the aim of generating eye care awareness and providing vision care to the society, VCOVS organises camps, vision screening programmes in schools on a regular basis.

As a part of Community Outreach Programme, the final year students, in collaboration with eminent Optometrists and Ophthalmologists of the state as well as of the nation, organise eye camps in different parts of West Bengal on a regular basis. The objective of such programmes is to accomplish the eradication of preventable blindness, in accordance with international standards and organisations, by providing quality eye care services at minimal cost.
